Stripes and Polka Dots

Happy Friday!

Browsing through Victoria's Secret's website last night inspired me to spice up my plain pink nails.

I already had Mavala South Beach Pink on my nails from the day before, which is pretty crucial when you're planning on using tape on polish. If your base color isn't completely dry it could get ruined. The necessary waiting time between base color and taping depends on the polish of course, and how fast it comes to a completely dry state.

So, once you have your nails colored and dry, take any kind of tape or sticker that you can comfortably work with, and slice it up in to thin lines, as thin or thick as you'd like the stripes to be. Place them carefully while paying attention to the gaps you leave between them - as these will be the other color stripes when you're done. Make sure the tape is secured tight, and leave a little bit of loose tape on one of the edges to grab when it's time to peel it off.

Paint over with your choice of color (I used IsaDora Bridal Pink). Now this depends again on the polish itself, it's texture and drying time, but for a nice fresh polish, I'd wait just about 30 seconds and then carefully peel the tape. You want the top color to be stable, but still wet enough to resettle and leave a nice clean line after removing the tape.

For my right hand, I just used the shape of the polish brush and dotted all the nails with the same Bridal Pink.

A decent layer of transparent top coat leaves the nails smooth and pretty!

Have the best weekend!

Sugar heart

Good morning ladies!
Something small from yesterday <3

As you can see, the gel nails are off for a while, leaving me with these tiny little things. All I did here was polish two coats of IsaDora Cool Camel, and then painted on a little heart with Depend no.31 (white).
I blame wine and vodka for the major headache, and thus complete lack of sense of humor this morning.

Candy sprinkles for the end of summer

Hello ladies!

It's been a while, but I'm proud to present you with some new nail candy I made last night :)

I used IsaDora - Mellow Yellow and Miami Blue, Mavala - Freshy, Ankara and South Beach Pink, Depend minipolish no. 031 (white) and CHIC top coat. And of course, some white Swarovski flatback crystals. This one was really easy, I painted the base coats on all the nails, and then made gentle lines (the candy sprinkles) on top. I made a plain french manicure on two nails and placed crystals just across the smile line. Finally, clear top coat and I was good to go!

I visited my new salon space today, and couldn't resists trying out one of the polishes on my new co-workers desk (Peggy Sage polish, I don't remember the color name), hence the cream colored nail in the third picture. The boyfriend (who has since my last blog post been upgraded to fiance) liked it better with pink, what do you think?

Love,

Seashell

Made these fishy-coraly-seashelly nails last night while my boyfriend read mass media mind control theories to me. I only made one hand because it was late, which is why my left hand is going solo here. That's also why the photos are a bit wonky!

As for the designs, I used IsaDora Miami Blue and Mellow Yellow, Depend mini polish numbers 246 (blue), 251 (baby blue), 245 (pastel teal), 031 (white), and CHIC top coat. I didn't have white glitter (the ones you can see on my index finger) so I painted silver glitters with white polish.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!!

Princess Nails

I made these on my friend this morning, with CND Brisa gel in opaque Cool Pink, topped with IsaDora Bridal Pink, Swarovski crystals in Light Peach, Rose, and Light Rose in two sizes, mini pearls in silver and pink and little black heart rhinestones. I top coated it all with CND Brisa Gloss (gel top coat) to make sure it all holds together as she's going on vacation in a couple of days. There were some files, buffers, base coat etc involved as well :) .

Wishing you all a great week!

To appease the boyfriend

Not exactly nail art, but it involves polish and it's on my nails! It's his favorite, bless his swedish heart.

Make hand painted leopard print look like nail wraps

Every girl loves a good leopard print. The thing is, it's the easiest nail art pattern ever! Here's how I made these:

First I applied two coats of IsaDora gold sparkles. And the fun part, I just made a bunch of color blotches with IsaDora cool camel. Finally, added some half outlines to the blotches with Depend 039 (black), and a few tiny black blotches in between the larger brown ones, top coat and DONE!

Have fun making jungle nails!

Another cakey nail post

I made these under a lamp late at night while watching Hitchcocks 'the birds', I love having a small distraction when watching horror movies so not to get too into them.

I used IsaDora in mellow yellow, cool camel and miami beach, Mavala in riga, velvet and freshy, Depend mini-polish in 248 (peach), 201 (pink), 246 (blue), 031 (white), and CHIC topcoat.

For the little cake decorations I used mini pearls, stick glitter, hexagon glitter and crushed shells, and for other decorations and cherries I put flatback Swarovski crystals Mint Alabaster, Indian Siam and Clear in two sizes.

As always, I used an orangewood stick to pick up and place the decorations and glitter, and top coated everything twice.

And here are some nails...

I emptied my wallet on a bunch of happy summer colors, and made these:

For the backgrounds and drawings, I used IsaDora Bridal Pink and Mellow Yellow, and Depend mini-polishes (i adore them!!) numbers 135 (salmon), 201 (pink), 246 (blue), 031 (white), 036 (red), and CHIC topcoat.
For candy on the cakes and ice creams I used mini pearls, stick glitter and hexagon glitter, and for the cherry and other decorations I used some flatback pearls, and flatback Swarovski crystals in Vintage Rose and Indian Siam.

The only tools you need really is polishes, a steady hand (be relaxed!) and an orangewood stick to pick up and place decorations. I find that polish brushes can be really good for painting on nails if you learn to use their shape. For example, I make the thin lines on the icecream cones just by wiping off most of the polish of the brush until it's pretty clean and flat, and then laying it down in an angle, to get thin controlled lines.

I made these on my own nails which have a gel overlay on them. That means the polish won't chip or mess up as easily as it would on natural nails, since the gel gives it all a strong steady base. I didn't use any glue for the decorations, just embedded them in the wet polish, and top coated twice, but I'd use some glue for the crystals and flatback pearls if I were working on natural nails.

That's it I guess, I hope some lovely girls out there will give this a try, if so let me know how it turns out! Also, I'd be more than happy to answer any questions!
